DESCRIPTION
The Minnesota State Capitol Grounds are a landscaped campus with nearly 30 monuments and memorials commemorating figures, events, and movements that have shaped Minnesota’s history. If the Capitol is the people’s house, then its Grounds are their garden. With an introduction from Larry Millett of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Andrew Stec will guide guests through the park as researcher and narrator, offering storied context to these monuments and their ongoing role in public discourse. Guests will hear first-hand accounts of the construction of the state house, passionate speeches given by presidents and civil rights activists, and the perspectives of Minnesotan citizens who have made their voices heard over the last 100 years.
